Curaçao 2026/27

Curaçao,

Kingdom of The Netherlands

How do boys grow up when they live in underserved circumstances?

On this Caribbean island, shaped by a long colonial history with the Netherlands, social conditions remain fragile. Limited access to quality education, high unemployment, and an economy heavily dependent on tourism create significant challenges for many families. For boys growing up in these circumstances, the path is often uncertain. Many do not complete secondary education and struggle to find direction. The lure of quick money through crime is ever-present, while macho behavior as a survival attitude is often idealized.

What alternatives exist for these boys to turn the tide? How can they be supported to pursue their ambitions and reach their full potential? 10Children Curaçao explores these questions together with boys, NGOs, educational institutions, and arts organizations, seeking new pathways and possibilities for the future.
